Dear All,
Greetings and salutations from beautiful South Africa, where I am having the privilege of working with one of my favourite Iyengar yoga teachers 4 times a week, thank you Paula Viljoen. This is my last week in the dazzling sunlight, roaring sounds of the waves, daily beach walks, brilliant blue expansive skies and doing yoga outdoors. My heart is brimming with joy.
What are the benefits of standing postures in yoga? They are the building blocks of a yoga asana practice and represent our ability to be grounded, to stand on our own two feet.
Through the focus on alignment, standing postures help strengthen the muscles of the body responsible for posture. We learn to become aware of the balance between the left and right side of our bodies, the front, back and sides so that our skeletal structure is supported by our muscles without constriction or asymmetry.

Yoga classes continue online and there is a drop in live class in Forest Row on Fridays from 10-11am. All abilities welcome.
